Las Viñas Bastardas. One of the newest projects from one of our favorite winery projects: Casa Rojo. They discovered some old vines -more than one hundred years old- of different varieties scattered near their winery in Murcia but that had been left outside of the local DO Jumilla region. They decided to train these vines and create a unique red wine from them. The result is a blend of Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo that has spent 6 months in new French oak. The wine is complex, elegant and not at all heavy or boozy. The nose floral and has notes of hillside herbs. The fruits are cranberries, currants and blackberries. The palate is freshly acidic, soft and smooth.
