Balcón de Pilatos Maturana. Red wine produced by Bodegas Valdemar in the D.O.Ca. Rioja in 100% Maturana variety. Aged for 11 months in new American oak barrels of fine grain with 3 years of drying. Bodegas Valdemar is a pioneer in recovering the Maturana, a local variety that was on the verge of disappearing at the beginning of the 20th century due to phylloxera. This wine comes from vines planted in 2001, being 2005 the first single varietal vintage. It has a cherry color with violet hues and a very high intensity. The nose and palate present complex and intense aromas of ripe black fruit with fine notes of sweet spices such as vanilla, cocoa and tobacco. Smooth, creamy, mellow, without edges and with nerve. Hints of sweet spices. Very persistent and elegant.
