Alaya Tierra. This wine might win the ‘Darkest and Booziest’ wine at the Wine Oscars. Alaya Tierra is made with 100% Garnacha Tintorera (a teinturier grape whose pulp and juice is also red, not just the skin) that are planted at 1000m altitude and that then have spent 15 months in oak. The result is an inky 16% alcohol beast that purrs over the palate. This is a sensual and profound wine that is all jammy black fruits and plums, cooking spices, charred leather and sweet vanilla. The palate is smooth and coating. Awesome in every sense.
